Building Services Fabric Bias Multi-Skilled Engineer

Location: London

Hours: Full-time - 40 hrs/week (split days) or 42 hrs/week (rotating night shifts, 4 on/4 off)

Join a leading higher education institution in London as a Building Services Fabric Bias Multi-Skilled Engineer. This hands-on role is central to maintaining and improving the estate’s fabric and building services, ensuring all facilities operate safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

You’ll be part of a dynamic Estates and Facilities Operations team, delivering planned, reactive, and corrective maintenance across a wide portfolio of academic and residential properties. Your expertise will span general fabric works, carpentry, painting, roofing, plumbing, mechanical and electrical maintenance, and emergency response.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, operate, and maintain all fabric-related assets.
  • Support day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, health & safety, and best industry practice (SFG20).
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to deliver high-quality, solution-focused services.
  • Participate in emergency response, compliance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate asset records, SOPs, and EOPs.
Essential Requirements
  • City & Guilds Level 3 in Carpentry/Painting or equivalent apprenticeship in a fabric-focused discipline.
  • Extensive experience in general fabric works, mechanical and electrical maintenance, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and IT skills.
  • Commitment to health, safety, and high-quality standards.
Desirable
  • L8 Hot & Cold Water certification.
  • Experience in managing or supporting multi-skilled teams.
