Building Maintenance Officer

Salary £35,081 – £37,298 per annum plus essential user car allowance.

Full-time, 36 hours per week

This role is within the Asset Management Department, reporting to the Senior Building Manager.

Responsibilities

Working in the Building Services Team, you will be responsible for organising supervision and cost checking of planned and reactive maintenance work on Spelthorne Borough Council municipal and residential properties, providing quality control services required by Councils' strategic maintenance programme, ensuring compliance with specifications, reporting and monitoring construction‑related key performance indicators, and checking contractors' compliance with construction regulations and health and safety legislation.

Requirements / Qualifications
  • A proven track record in a varied hands‑on property maintenance role.
  • Experience in delivering superior service to stakeholders across the business, with excellent attention to detail, ability to prioritise and manage workload, and capability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction from a trade background, initiative, calm under pressure, and experience checking contractors' compliance with regulations and workmanship quality.
  • Valid driving licence and own vehicle.
  • Good management skills, confidence, adaptability, strong communication skills (in person and in writing), and competence in Word and Excel.
  • Enthusiasm, flexibility and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
Additional Information

Hybrid role supporting both office and home working in line with Spelthorne Borough Council’s policy; office attendance required on a rota and for service requirements. Microsoft Authenticator app will be used for secure network access; candidates must download the app on their own mobile device.
