Overview
Our clients based in Wakefield is a well established reputable manufacturing business known for their staff retention and excellent work environment. We are looking to appoint a buildings maintenance engineer to support the upkeep of the facility.
Responsibilities
- Carry out routine inspections and preventive maintenance of building systems (lighting, HVAC, plumbing, doors, fire alarms, etc.).
- Perform minor electrical and mechanical repairs, such as replacing fittings, basic wiring, pump maintenance, and HVAC troubleshooting.
- Liaise with, coordinate, and supervise external contractors and service providers to ensure work is completed to specification, on time, and within budget.
- Maintain records of maintenance activities, repairs, and contractor work.
- Respond promptly to facility-related issues or breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to manufacturing operations.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant health & safety and building regulations.
- Support energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives where applicable.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance procedures and facility performance.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in building maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on capability in minor electrical (e.g., lighting circuits, small repairs) and mechanical work (e.g., HVAC components, plumbing).
- Experience managing external contractors and ensuring work is delivered to agreed standards and timelines.
- Good working knowledge of building systems and regulatory requirements.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively.
- IT literate (familiar with CMMS systems is a plus).
