About Me

I'm an 11 year old boy and I live in Hereford with my parents and 2 siblings. I have a mild learning disability and struggle in social situations. I really enjoy playing with other children my age and just need some guidance with my behaviour. I love sport, sensory activities and have been told I am great fun to be around.

Responsibilities
  • Take the child fishing, to the football teams, and on day trips to places such as Cadbury World and Drayton Manor.
  • Act as a buddy when out and about, ensuring the child’s safety, encouraging good behaviour and maintaining a calm and supportive presence.
  • Provide companionship and social support during outings and extended periods of independence.
  • Assist with flexible scheduling and accommodate additional support when needed, providing as much notice as possible.
Qualifications
  • Driving licence essential and ability to own or operate a car.
  • Good communication skills, patience, calmness and a good sense of humour.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and the importance of respectful interactions.
  • Positive attitude toward independence and flexibility in working style to accommodate a child with disabilities.
  • Previous experience with similar work is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.
Benefits

Direct payments are available from Local Authorities for people who have a care and support plan in place following a social care assessment. The allocation of money is used to purchase the assistance and care needed to live independently.

The child’s mother will be the employer, responsible for recruitment, contracts, supervision, pay, training, etc. A support service assists her in meeting her responsibilities as an employer.
