Howling Hops brewery in Hackney Wick, East London is looking for a full-time member of our production team.
Brewer – full time
We are looking for someone to join our small team and be involved in the day to day running of the brewery. You will be brewing an extensive range of beautiful beer, packaging beer, cleaning stuff and everything else in between. There are opportunities to be involved in all aspects of beer production from recipe creation to final packaged products.
Role & Responsibilities include:
- Brewing on our 30HL 4-vessel semi-automated brewhouse.
- Cellaring and making daily checks, dry-hopping beers, cleaning vessels, yeast management, utilising an Alfa-Laval Centrifuge and undertaking beer analysis.
- Ensuring hygiene and quality across all brewing processes and product lines.
- Warehouse tasks including transferring stock, packaging items, ingredients etc between sites.
- Compliance to food quality, HACCP, and HSE systems.
- Representing the brewery at events etc.
- Conducting process improvement activities.
- Any other duties as required to assist the smooth running of the brewery.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Brewing qualification or 2+ years brewing/packaging experience.
- Experience of packaging in cask, keg and can.
- Knowledge of and passion for craft beer and familiarity with the UK beer scene.
- Ability to lift 25kg to waist height.
- Ability to manoeuvre 50kg casks.
- Reliable, flexible, hard working.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- You must be available to work in the UK without restriction.
- Hours of work are typically 08.00-16.00 (40 hours) Monday to Friday, although flexibility and some additional hours may be required. Time off in lieu rewarded and taken back to balance.
- After a 3 month probation period and satisfactory quality of work, hours will be reduced from 40 hours/week to 36 hours/week. This can be removed at the determination of management.
- Job to be offered as a 1-year contract, will possibility to extended at the end of this period after review with both parties.
- Salary (£30k - £32k) subject to negotiation upon successful application and experience level.
