Job description

A new exciting opportunity has arisen working for a Ipswich based Insurance Company who currently seeking a Branch Underwriting Manager. This is a forward thinking insurer who have made a great impact in the regions and where they are growing in a very positive direction.

You would be the main referral point for new/existing cases making key decisions in respect of underwriting for the branch.

You will be responsible for:-

  • Achieving regional income and profit objectives by managing the technical performance of the branch account and by delivering an efficient case underwriting service to brokers
  • Maintain personal knowledge of relevant technical issues and disseminate appropriate information to ensure that the regional underwriting and sales teams are always up-to-date. You will manage, motivate and develop under the job holder’s control to oversee the development of the underwriters’ technical skills by delivering technical training/guidance
  • Undertake referral cases above the authority levels of the underwriters.
  • You will also be required to manage the regions account to ensure the company objectives are met.

Applicants must be technically strong on property/casualty risks, or possibly from a Motor Fleet or Motor Trade background (where you will have the highest underwriting authority within the branch), possess strong interpersonal and management skills and work in a structured, planned manner.
