Our client is a well-established firm of Chartered Certified Accountants based in Stanmore, North West London. Founded in 1975, but with roots going back over 60 years. With a strong reputation for providing expert financial and tax advisory services, they support a diverse portfolio of small and medium-sized businesses across various industries.

Role Overview

Our clients looking for a bookkeeper to oversee bookkeeping and VAT return services for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Prepare and analyse financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Support tax planning, VAT returns, and liaise with external auditors
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies
  • Contribute to process improvements and implementation of new financial systems

About You

  • Strong technical accounting skills and familiarity with UK financial regulations
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, or similar) and Excel
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills

Key Requirements

  • Must have at least 5-6 years of experience working in an accountancy practice
  • The candidate must have previously held a Senior Bookkeeper role.
  • Candidates with British citizenship or Indefinite leave to remain (ILR) will only be considered for the role
  • Expertise in Xero, Sage, and QuickBooks bookkeeping software
  • Strong knowledge of VAT schemes, VAT compliance, and some experience in VAT planning
  • Experience in liaising with HMRC for VAT-related matters
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple client accounts
  • Strong communication skills for client interactions
