TPF Recruitment are representing a fantastic top 25 firm of chartered accountants in Steyning, Sussex who have a highly prestigious client base of high-net worth individuals, SMEs, not-for-profits, regulated industries and agriculture. We have an exciting opportunity for candidates who are currently working in a bookkeeping capacity, that are looking to seek a more challenging role within a top 30 firm.

As a Bookkeeper, you will manage a diverse client portfolio, including limited companies, charities, and agricultural businesses. Your responsibilities will include day-to-day bookkeeping, control account reconciliations, and preparing monthly or quarterly management accounts.

Cloud-based accounting software knowledge is essential, as you may also provide training and support to clients both remotely and in person. Excellent organisational skills are key, as you will manage your own workload, address client queries, and assist other departments such as accounts, audit, and payroll when needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts
  • Prepare and file VAT returns accurately and in line with HMRC regulations
  • Provide software support and training to clients on various cloud-based packages
  • Attend client sites to undertake bookkeeping tasks and prepare management information
  • Respond to client queries promptly and professionally
Requirements

About You

  • Previous bookkeeping experience in an accountancy practice
  • AAT qualification, part-qualified status, or equivalent experience
  • Confidence using cloud-based accounting and bookkeeping software such as Xero (Xero certification desirable), QuickBooks, Sage, Dext, and Fathom
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and a proactive attitude
  • Excellent numerical skills with the ability to interpret financial data for clients
  • Experience preparing management accounts and VAT returns
  • Collaborative mindset and strong work ethic
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Flexibility to work off-site at client premises, including locations in Brighton and London
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Valid driving licence and access to own transport
