Trustees play a central role in shaping the direction of Metanoia Institute and ensuring the organisation continues to uphold its values of social justice, inclusion, openness and growth. This is an exciting time to join the Institute as we modernise our governance, strengthen our leadership structures and expand our impact across the mental health sector.
It is important to our Board that its Trustees reflect the wider community. You will therefore also ensure equality, diversity and inclusion are embedded in everything we do.

Trustees may also contribute specific expertise to discussions, lead areas of scrutiny, or advise the Board on matters aligned to their professional background.

Metanoia Institute has provided high‑quality training in psychological therapies since 1984. We deliver part‑time, university‑validated undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Counselling, Psychotherapy and Counselling Psychology, alongside specialist courses in Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes, Adolescent and Schools Counselling, Psychotherapeutic Counselling (NHS‑funded), and a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education. Our extensive CPD programme supports practitioners to maintain and extend their professional expertise.
Rooted in social justice, Metanoia was founded to challenge exclusion in psychotherapy training and remains committed to widening access to therapy and therapist education. Today, we are implementing an ambitious 2023–2028 strategy that focuses on inclusion, innovation, intelligence‑led decision‑making and long‑term sustainability. Our goal is to create a culturally responsive psychological workforce and ensure therapy is accessible to every corner of society.
