Overview

BMS Technician - Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle
Location: Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Reports to: Account Manager

Salary: 57k plus benefits

We're looking for an experienced BMS Technician to join our estates team at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. You'll play a key role in maintaining and optimising advanced Building Management Systems (BMS) and associated plant to ensure the hospital operates efficiently, safely, and sustainably.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out PPM, servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Maintain and optimise the Building Management System (BMS) to maximise energy efficiency.
  • Support delivery of annual energy targets through analysis and reporting.
  • Act as the site expert on BMS systems, providing guidance and training to team members.
  • Respond to breakdowns and ensure minimal system downtime through effective disaster recovery planning.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and comply with Health & Safety procedures.
  • Participate in the on-call rota and undertake training as required.
About You
  • Completed recognised engineering apprenticeship with City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 / BTEC or equivalent.
  • Proven experience with large-scale BMS systems, ideally Schneider Continuum or EcoStruxure.
  • Strong understanding of BMS energy management, HVAC systems, and electrical wiring practices.
  • Familiar with Bacnet, Modbus, and Mbus protocols.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of CHP, boilers, chillers, and heat pumps is desirable.
  • 18th Edition and C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing qualifications are advantageous.
