A local environmental organization in Wales seeks an experienced Biodiversity Data and GIS Officer. The role involves managing biodiversity data, performing spatial analysis, and effectively communicating technical information. This is a full-time position with options for part-time work. The successful candidate will contribute to vital conservation efforts across mid-Wales and support hybrid working arrangements, with expected office time in Brecon.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced BiodiversityData and GIS Officer with the skills to manage and enhance our data-holding and to carry out spatial analysis to make the data we hold go further. This is a full-time permanent role (part-time working would be considered) giving the opportunity to work in a well-established and forward thinking Local Environmental Record Centre as part of a network of four Welsh record centres.
We seek someone who understands the importance of biological records and their role in improving the evidence base for Nature Recovery efforts. You will liaise regularly with individuals and organisations to improve data flow and provide support to those generating and using biological data. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing data-sets within Excel, learning new data processes and presenting complex technical information in a visually accessible way.
We are a small, friendly and supportive team dedicated to providing robust evidence to inform conservation action and decision making throughout mid-Wales.
We are at the heart of the recording community in Powys and the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. We work closely with volunteers, species experts, conservation NGOs, Local Authorities, utility companies, researchers, ecological consultants and the other Welsh LERCs.
We support hybrid working; this role has an expectation of working two to three days a week from our Brecon office.
