Overview

Slingsby Advanced Composites is based in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, where it produces complex composite structures that are predominantly used to manufacture vital parts on ships, submarines and aircraft. From bespoke one-off designs to low-volume manufacture, the business enjoys a unique place within its sector thanks to its application of ground-breaking technologies that drive the industry forward. We now have a brand new opportunity available for a Bid Project Manager to join this busy team.

The successful candidate will manage the bid process, as the company expands, ensuring that the bids are completed on time and to specified requirements. Purpose of the position: The role will support the Sales and New Product Introduction teams in winning new business and handing over successful bids to the NPI teams post contract award. The role will work closely with the Sales team leading the opportunity through assisting with the bid development, collation and submission to the Customer.

Responsibilities
  • Acting as the focal point for coordinating bids to support the Sales team to win new contracts
  • Coordinating all internal activities between departments including sales, engineering, procurement, operations, quality, security, commercial, etc to comprehensively ensure that all requirements are fully considered.
  • Developing competitive bid packs comprising of cost estimates, schedules, technical proposals, offer letters, etc in parallel with internal bid process documentation for bid reviews prior to submission
  • Working within existing bid processes and maintaining associated registers/KPIs
  • Supporting Sales and NPI Teams with other pre-contract customer related activities such as customer questionnaires, etc
  • Upon successful award of the contract, to ensure the bid pack data is transferred to the NPI team to establish budgets, schedule and customer requirements
Tasks
  • To ensure structured and consistent coordinate of the concept development and bid collation process, primarily from bid/no bid to contract acceptance and handover to the MPI/product development team
  • To liaise with Operations and Engineering to populate the Sales & Operational Planning cycle with capacity planning data related to new bids and sales opportunities
Qualifications
  • Demonstrable record of working in project management within a technical/engineering/construction environment
  • In depth working knowledge of cost estimating, scheduling, risk management, product development lifecycles
  • Demonstrable record of coordinating multiple activities across internal teams with time sensitive deadlines
  • Capable of interfacing with senior company and customer personnel and all employees
  • Significant experience in delivering complex bids relating to R&D and developing highly engineered products
  • The ability to work with different teams to coordinate and generate the best possible solutions for bespoke requirements
  • Working knowledge of pricing and business documentation
  • Strong written, communication and analytical skills

  • On-site based at Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire
  • Requirement to travel to engineering office occasionally (Cambridge area)
  • Requirement to travel to Customer sites (UK based) occasionally
