A local government authority in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a Bereavement Services Assistant for an 18-month fixed term contract. The role requires processing cremation and burial bookings while ensuring high levels of accuracy and customer service. The successful applicant must have a good knowledge of relevant laws and practices and will work closely with various stakeholders in bereavement services. Excellent communication skills are essential for success in this role.
An opportunity has arisen within Bereavement Services for a Fixed Term contract of 18 months, Bereavement Services Assistant working 37 hrs per week Monday – Friday. N5
The job includes processing bookings for cremations and burials, issuing and recording all necessary information and ensuring the highest levels of accuracy and customer service are always delivered.
The position is part of a small team based in the Civic Centre but working closely with Cemeteries and Crematorium staff, funeral directors, hospital staff, GPs and members of the public who have suffered bereavement and want to arrange a funeral or memorial.
Although training will be given, the post holder will need to be fully functional from a very early stage. This will require an existing good knowledge of cremation and burial practice and the law relating to both. Excellent communication skills are essential.
