Job summary

A local observatory in Armagh is seeking a friendly team member to join their Planetarium Team. The role involves providing customer service in the café, managing stock levels, and maintaining a welcoming environment. Candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced setting and have knowledge of health and safety. The position offers standard hours of up to 25 per week, with additional hours depending on availability. Compensation ranges from £7.55 to £12.21 per hour based on age and experience.

  • Prepare and serve a range of hot/cold drinks.

  • Follow food hygiene, allergen and safety guidelines.
  • Receive and check deliveries, reporting any discrepancies.
  • Participate in stock ordering and inventory tasks.
  • Replenish shelves, ensuring stock rotation and freshness.
  • Keep the café seating area clean and tidy.

THE EMPLOYER IS: ARMAGH OBSERVATORY & PLANETARIUMWorking within the Planetarium Team to undertake a variety of customer service tasks in our café and shop. Provide a friendly and welcoming service to all customers, manage stock levels, and maintain general presentation.

Responsibilities
  • Open and close the café, preparing the counter and displays.
  • Operate the till, handle cash and process card payments.
  • Maintain high levels of hygiene throughout the café with regular cleaning and maintenance of coffee machine, grinder, and other equipment.
  • Prepare and serve a range of hot/cold drinks.
  • Assist with basic food preparation (where applicable).
  • Follow food hygiene, allergen and safety guidelines including completing temperature checks, cleaning logs and daily checklists.
  • Receive and check deliveries, reporting any discrepancies.
  • Participate in stock ordering and inventory tasks.
  • Replenish shelves, ensuring stock rotation and freshness.
  • Clear tables, manage waste and recycling, and keep the café seating area clean and tidy.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
