Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated bank Cardiac Physiologist Specialised in Pacing to join our friendly and dynamic team providing high standards of care and support to patients at St John & St Elizabeth Hospital. The post holder will support the provision of cardiac rhythm management including inpatient Pacemaker/ICD/CRT checks pre and post‑op, Pacemaker/ICD/CRT programming, pre and post‑MRI scan Pacemaker programming and outpatient cardiac device clinic. The successful candidate must independently write clinical reports following pacing addition and will provide clinical reports following ambulatory monitoring and ETT analysis.

Located in leafy St Johns Wood on the Jubilee line minutes from Central London our luxury private Hospital has an international reputation for providing the highest quality of care to patients and is unique in that all profits fund our onsite Hospice St Johns.

What would be my responsibilities
  • To participate in the provision of cardiac rhythm management including inpatient Pacemaker/ICD/CRT checks pre and post‑op, Pacemaker/ICD/CRT programming, pre and post‑MRI scan Pacemaker programming, outpatient pacemaker clinic and remote monitoring.
  • To perform Pacing Quality Audit Reports.
  • To maintain high standards of technical competency in the provision of all technical cardiac procedures.
  • To respond promptly and professionally to emergency situations, maintaining control and requesting assistance as necessary.
  • To assist in the day‑to‑day management of procedures/workload/organisation within the department.
  • To act as a role model for junior members of the team and contribute to their development.
  • To communicate effectively with the multi‑disciplinary team, informing the relevant medical professionals when significant findings are diagnosed.
  • To assist the Cardiologist in theatres with DC cardioversions.
  • To ensure the standard of work meets the Hospital’s rating with the CQC and help the Hospital achieve an Outstanding rating.
Am I the right person
  • BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent.
  • ILS.
  • British Heart Rhythm Society (BHRS) accreditation or European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) accreditation or International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) accreditation.
  • Experience with Medtronic, Boston Scientific, Biotronik and St Jude pacemaker programmers.
  • Experience as an independent practitioner in cardiology investigations.
  • Experience of assisting in pacemaker and implantable loop recorder implantation (desirable).
  • 24‑hour Holter analysis.
  • Able to perform a wide range of non‑invasive investigations independently.
  • Understanding of cardiac procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  • Teaching skills.
