Job description

Foss Park Hospital is looking for Bank Health Care Assistants to work within the inpatient wards.

If you are passionate about mental health care and ready for a new challenge, this role provides an exciting opportunity to develop your mental health skills while delivering patient‑centred care in an adult and older people inpatient setting.

Responsibilities
  • Provide empathetic, person‑centred care to adult and older patients in inpatient wards.
  • Assist with mobilisation, personal care and therapeutic activities.
  • Support nursing staff in meeting the needs of service users and promote choice and independence.
  • Work flexible long shifts (day and night), including weekdays and weekends, as and when required.
  • Attend the mandatory 5‑day consecutive training course and any additional safety training.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant in a mental health setting is preferred.
  • Commitment to patient‑centred care and ability to work flexible long shifts.
  • Must be able to attend the mandatory 5‑day training course.
  • Bank workers are not regular employees and have no guaranteed employment.
Training and Qualification
  • Mandatory 5‑day consecutive training course for all new recruits.
  • Completion of this training is a prerequisite for working within the Trust.

Working Hours

Shifts are typically long days and nights, including weekdays and weekends. Bank workers work as and when required, with no guarantee of continuous employment.
