Job Summary

Join the Radiopharmacy team in the Nuclear Medicine department at the Royal Free Hospital, London. The role involves key day‑to‑day service provision, maintaining the Pharmaceutical Quality System, and, once accredited, acting as an authorised releasing officer.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver a high‑quality radiopharmacy service, ensuring compliance with GMP, GCP, radiation protection and transport regulations.
  • Operate aseptic manufacturing in isolators and manage radioactive materials.
  • Be trained and accredited as a releasing officer for manufactured products and IMP assemblies.
  • Investigate deviations, out‑of‑specifications, OOS/OOT incidents, manage change control, risk assessments and validations.
  • Assist in training, education and support of clinical trials within the radiopharmacy setting.
  • Lead and support projects related to radiopharmacy service development.
Qualifications – Essential
  • Registration with the GPhC or HCPC.
  • Post‑graduate qualification (MSc or equivalent) in Radiopharmacy, QA or a related science degree (pharmacy, chemistry, biology).
  • Operational experience in a specialist radiopharmacy setting.
  • Experience in aseptic preparation and quality control of radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical quality systems, including change control, error investigation and deviation management.
  • Experience writing SOPs and technical reports for new processes or equipment.
  • Proficiency in training, managing and supervising staff.
  • Demonstrated specialist expertise in EU GMP practice, aseptic unit operation, radiopharmaceutical manufacture, radiation protection and clinical trial activities.
Qualifications – Desirable
  • Experience as an authorised releasing officer for radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Experience in QC or QA within an MHRA‑licensed facility.
  • Operational management experience of a radiopharmacy service.
  • European Association of Nuclear Medicine postgraduate certificate or equivalent in Radiopharmacy or Pharmaceutical Technology & Quality Assurance.
