Job description
Overview

Kingston Birth Centre is an extremely popular choice for women with a straightforward pregnancy. Amongst the South West London Trusts, our Birth Centre remains open, with consistently high birth numbers and excellent feedback as a testament to our excellent midwifery care and facilities.

Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for providing clinical excellence and managerial leadership for the Birth Centre within Kingston & Richmond Maternity Services to provide women and babies with a high quality, safe midwifery care, throughout the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period.

The post holder will be a highly visible champion of midwifery‑lead care through demonstration of excellent clinical knowledge and practice.

The role of the Birth Centre Team Lead is to support the Matron for Birth Centre and Consultant Midwife to ensure women are provided with personalised care. They must act as a leader and effective role‑model to staff, promoting healthy outcomes for women and babies within Kingston Maternity Services.

The care will be evidence‑based and holistic in meeting women's individual needs and the midwife will be expected to work autonomously within the guidelines and sphere of professional practice.

The post holder will regularly audit achievements and initiate projects to improve the service provided on the Birth Centre.

Requirements

This position requires you to work a mixture of day and night shifts, weekends and bank holidays. You will be required to travel, therefore a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle would be desirable.
