Qualifications

Job summary

We are seeking an experienced dietitian to join our GI surgery team at St George's NHS Foundation Trust. This role, 0.4 WTE (15 hours per week), works alongside our Band 7 dietitian who covers the remaining 0.6 WTE.

Main duties
  • Provide specialist dietetic care to gastrointestinal surgery patients (upper and lower GI).
  • Follow evidence‑based practice, act as an active multidisciplinary team member and educator.
  • Develop nutrition policies, guidelines and participate in audit, research and service improvement projects.
  • Manage a Band 6 gastro dietitian and support colleagues across the wider GI dietetic team.
Qualifications and training
  • BSc/Postgraduate diploma in Nutrition & Dietetics
  • HCPC current registration
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable
  • Postgraduate training in a speciality clinical area (e.g. St. Mark's courses, PENG)
  • Membership of BDA and relevant specialist group
Experience essential
  • Postgraduate experience of working in a specialist level acute or community dietetic service in GI surgery or gastroenterology.
  • Experience of undertaking clinical audit/research in the relevant area.
  • Experience of clinical supervision of students/junior staff.
  • Experience of multidisciplinary team working.
  • Experience of teaching and education to patient groups and healthcare professionals in the relevant area.
Desirable experience
  • Significant clinical experience of working in the area of GI surgery or gastroenterology.
  • Experience of working within critical care.

  • Membership of British Dietetic Association or other body conferring professional indemnity insurance.
