Job description
Overview

Neurophysiology Department at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT) invites applications for a qualified, suitably experienced Band 7 Physiologist / Clinical Scientist. The role is based in Queen’s Hospital, Romford with occasional visits to King George’s Hospital, Ilford. The department offers a range of neurophysiological tests including routine, sleep‑deprivation and prolonged EEG recordings for adults and children, portable neonatal ITU recordings, video‑telemetry, ambulatory studies, multi‑modality evoked potentials, intra‑operative monitoring (IOM) for both spinal and cranial neurosurgical cases, and weekly EMG‑guided Botox clinics. Training is available where required and the successful candidate will support the improvement and expansion of the service.

Responsibilities
  • Day‑to‑day management and supervision of Clinical Physiologists in the absence of senior staff.
  • Perform, interpret and report a wide range of routine and non‑routine neurophysiological investigations.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to meet service needs.
  • Take over the management of the Neurophysiology service when the service manager is absent.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Provide training and supervision to junior staff as required.
Qualifications
  • Band 7 Physiologist or Clinical Scientist, fully qualified and suitably experienced.
  • Experience with EEG, sleep studies, evoked potentials, IOM, and EMG‑guided interventions.
  • Strong clinical interpretation skills and the ability to report complex findings.
