Responsibilities
  • Provide MSK assessment, diagnosis and management of a variety of MSK conditions through clear clinical reasoning.
  • Deliver MSK assessments and treatments in 1:1, group and virtual settings.
  • Support the development of Band 5 physiotherapists, unregistered staff and undergraduate physiotherapy students.
  • Collaborate with other teams/agencies to address support issues across MSK and pain conditions.
  • Contribute to service development and delivery of local and Trust-wide projects.
  • Participate in the MSK IST programme and receive regular clinical supervision.
  • Ensure effective person‑centred care outcomes, followed by monitoring and evaluation.
Role Overview

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Specialist Physiotherapist to join our well‑established, innovative and friendly Musculoskeletal (MSK) Outpatient Team at Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. This is a fantastic opportunity for staff who have completed their Band 5 rotations or who are looking to expand their existing clinical knowledge within MSK.

Responsibilities include providing MSK assessment, diagnosis and management of a range of musculoskeletal conditions, supporting staff development, collaborating across teams, contributing to service improvement and participating in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

Required: Valid HCPC registration, evidence of clinical skills with patients presenting with a range of musculoskeletal conditions, capacity for autonomous decision‑making and problem‑solving, excellent communication skills, and empathy. A desire to expand knowledge and skills, ability to work flexibly and develop professional relationships, and evidence of contribution to service development/improvement are essential.

Support and guidance will be provided from a team of experienced Advanced Physiotherapists, Advanced Practice Physiotherapists and Clinical Champions. An excellent MSK IST programme and regular clinical supervision are available, alongside career progression opportunities through a robust MSK Development and Competency Framework.
