Job Introduction. We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Specialist Learning Disability Physiotherapist, with previous Learning Disability physiotherapy experience, who will play a key role in delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care and services to support individuals and teams, based primarily in Swindon. Working within a collaborative environment, you will provide essential services tailored to meet the unique needs of those we serve.

Primarily based in Swindon, you will have the flexibility to work within a model that supports both on‑site and hybrid working arrangements, depending on the nature of the role. HCRG Care Group is committed to fostering an agile and adaptable workforce to best meet the needs of our organisation and service users.

Some travel across the BSW patch may be required so willingness to travel and a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.

Recent experience working in a Learning Disabilities service within the last 5 years and confidence working with individuals with learning disabilities is essential.

Main Responsibilities
  • To assess, plan, implement and evaluate specialist physiotherapy interventions for patients with learning disabilities that are patient‑centred and in consultation with the service user as part of their overall care plan. This may include musculoskeletal, neurological and falls. To take a lead role in the management of the general physical well‑being of service users.
  • Apply specialist knowledge and skills to meet the needs of those with profound and complex needs and those who challenging services.
  • Contribute to the planning, organisation and maintenance and leadership of professional networks and interest groups to maintain and develop professional practice. To keep patient clinical records and statistics as per trust and professional guidelines with the use of information technology – ensuring timely, contemporaneous and accurate records.
  • To work as a fully integrated member of the multi‑professional team using the care plan/recovery planning approach.
  • Participate in training of self and others as relevant to the post.
  • To work in a collaborative and co‑operative manner with other health care professionals, patients and their families.
  • To provide leadership and supervision to designated junior staff ensuring that they receive advice and support and that the delegation of tasks is appropriate to his/her abilities and grade.
  • To be responsible for education and supervision of physiotherapy students.
  • To work within the National Standards of Physiotherapy and the Professional Code of Conduct for Physiotherapists and The Health and Care Profession Council.
Qualifications

Recent experience working in a Learning Disabilities service within the last 5 years and confidence working with individuals with learning disabilities is essential.
