Overview

Job summary: To support the multidisciplinary team approach within the preterm birth clinic within antenatal clinic. To support the implementation of all aspects of the Periprem Bundle. Acting as a skilled practitioner, the post holder will lead and support others in undertaking aspects of the Periprem toolkit.

Responsibilities
  • Work in partnership with the Neonatal and Maternity Management Teams to achieve Trust objectives associated with Periprem.
  • Acknowledge and act on concerns raised, including investigating, escalating and dealing with concerns where appropriate. Share learning outcomes of incidents and complaints with appropriate teams and demonstrate changes in practice to embed a culture of learning.
  • Support the embedding of multi-disciplinary clinical audit across Maternity and Neonates to ensure patient care reflects the Trust and Care Groups Quality Strategy and meets clinical governance standards.
  • Work closely with the Saving Babies Lives Lead Midwife to identify themes and champion innovation and communication to support.
  • Produce monthly summary reports on compliance, themes, changes in practice and areas of learning incidents.
  • Develop and implement a system for communicating regularly to staff groups.
  • Act as an advocate for babies and families who are vulnerable or at risk from harm, neglect or abuse.
  • Assess the effectiveness of current practice within Maternity Services and introduce innovations that lead to improved quality of care.
