Silverbirch Unit is an 19 bedded female acute ward that supports women of working age in the acute stages of their illness.
As Band 6 charge nurse you will be expected to demonstrate effective clinical and managerial leadership, motivation and initiative in change management to the nursing and wider MDT. You will play a vital role in delivering positive service delivery and implementing operational procedures/changes in line with trust and locality strategic objectives. It is expected that you would in partnership with the Ward Manager and Management Team to ensure the effective running of the inpatient setting and also act up in the absence of the Ward Manager.
On Silverbirch, training opportunities will be available and supported. There will be an opportunity to attend additional training bespoke to the management role, specifically supervision and appraisals, the charge nurse development course, and the Team Leaders course amongst others. You will receive full support from your direct line manager, other peer Charge Nurses on the ward, as well as senior managers based on site.
The team work hard to provide excellent care to the service users they work with and we are lucky to have a wide range of experienced and enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team, including psychology, physio, occupational therapists, medics and dietetics, that all work closely and consistently to provide a high standard of care. To carry out clinical practice within the designated clinical areas, ensuring that high quality evidence-based nursing assessment, care planning, interventions and evaluations for patients is provided. You will provide reassurance to your team members and be able to provide advice and guidance or know where to find it if needed. You will have the opportunity to take on additional management responsibilities, including deputising for the ward manager in their absence, take on lead roles, supervise and appraise junior staff. This will involve you being diplomatic, respectful, consistent, professional, supportive and kind and have excellent communication and listening skills.
