Overview

Water Meadow View is a brand new mental health inpatient unit for adults who have learning disabilities, due to open in late Autumn 2025 on our site in Whittingham, Preston. As we prepare to open this unit, we have an exciting opportunity for Staff Nurses to join us and support the Multi‑Disciplinary Team to deliver outstanding person‑centred care.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver prescribed care to a defined group of patients within an agreed framework.
  • Plan and implement a structured approach to nursing care which takes account of service user choice.
  • Accurately observe service users in order to assess needs and evaluate progress.
  • Promote an environment for effective practice, complying with all health and safety requirements.
  • Manage and supervise junior health care staff within the team.
  • Ensure that the needs of people with learning disabilities, including their physical and mental health care needs as well as spiritual needs (holistic), are effectively assessed and managed through the care planning process involving other specialists as appropriate.
  • Maintain knowledge and follow all relevant trust policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the appraisal process, identifying personal training needs relevant to the specialist area.
  • Exercise professional accountability and responsibility using skills, knowledge and expertise in changing environments, across clinical boundaries and in unfamiliar situations as outlined within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Actively engage and seek clinical and managerial supervision to support your practice.
  • Work within a Positive Behavioural Framework.
Welcome Bonus

The £3,000 Welcome Bonus package applies to this role.

  • £500 after 2 months of employment (counted from start date with LSCft)
  • £500 after 6 months of employment
  • £1,000 after 12 months
  • £1,000 after 24 months
