The role involves working with a diverse patient population and supporting a multi-disciplinary team. Ideal candidates will have a degree in Occupational Therapy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Flexible working arrangements are available to accommodate diverse needs.
The role supports 7-day working and there will be a requirement to cover some weekends and bank holidays as part of our rapid response service, approx. 1 in 6 weekends. You will need to effectively engage with your patients, peer groups, and service users in all elements of your role, leading by example and promoting a supportive and caring culture.
This will require an inclusive, transparent, open approach to your role, whereby you are happy to be accountable to others and to go that extra mile when required.
You will be passionate about our business, creating a culture of continuous improvement, where patient welfare is at the heart of all you do.
As a key person in the directorate you will act as a role model, be inspirational, dynamic and a courageous individual.
As a clinical employee it will be your responsibility to ensure that your behaviour and values reflect those set out in the DCHS Way.
The opportunity to develop advanced skills across a variety of different settings, the right candidate can expect to be supported and coached within this role.
DCHS provides a preceptorship programme for newly-qualified staff and is committed to investing in both clinical and leadership development of its staff through a robust process of regular appraisal and supervision.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated band 5 occupational therapist to join the Amber Valley Community Therapy team.
This role would give the successful applicants the opportunity to be part of an in-patient team, but also be part of the wider bedded care team within Amber Valley and Erewash, under the wider umbrella of community therapy – an experienced team with a wealth of knowledge.
Our multi‑disciplinary approach to care supports patients with a wide range of conditions; including complex comorbidities, palliative care and frailty.
The successful applicant will require the ability to integrate into our MDT, understanding the roles we all have to play.
The successful candidates must be highly motivated with excellent communication skills, have the ability to work on their own initiative, but also be an effective team worker, and be keen to help develop the role of therapy on the ward.
Our purpose is to provide community health services to a patient population of over one million people in Derbyshire as part of Joined Up Care Derbyshire.
We employ around 4,200 substantive staff, caring for patients in 11 community hospitals and more than 30 health centres, as well as in clinics, GP practices, schools, care homes and, increasingly, in people’s own homes and via virtual consultations. Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust (DCHS) is one of the largest providers of specialist community healthcare in England and we currently employ around 4,500 staff. We deliver a variety of services across Derbyshire, caring for nearly 1.8 million patients each year.
We deliver patient care through 11 community hospitals, 4 minor injury units, 29 health centres and a learning disability centre. Another key part of our service is out in the community where we care for people in their own homes via therapists, health visitors and district nurses, and promoting public health in the wider community. As a Trust we care for patients of all ages with a special focus on the needs of elderly people and the very young.
DCHS has been recognised as a top 10 NHS organisation to work for in the UK by the Health Service Journal and NHS Employers in their Best Places to Work 2015 campaign. The Trust is also the runner‑up in the category for the best NHS community trust employer.
Our vision "to be the best provider of local healthcare and to be a great place to work"
