Backend Engineer – London (Hybrid, 2 days / week in office)

Harvey Nash have partnered with true Tech For Good, a fast-growing health‑tech scale‑up. They’ve recently secured significant funding and are expanding their engineering team in London.

The Role

You’ll help build and scale the backend systems behind their core platform. Expect to design secure, high‑performing APIs, work across a fully serverless AWS environment, support an event‑driven architecture, and collaborate closely with product and engineering teams. You’ll own features end‑to‑end and contribute to systems connecting thousands of members.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Building scalable, well‑tested APIs in Node.js and TypeScript
• Working with a fully serverless AWS stack (Lambda, API Gateway, SNS / SQS, Cognito, RDS, S3, etc.)
• Designing and optimising MySQL databases
• Integrating and maintaining third‑party APIs
• Improving code quality, testing, and deployment automation
• Collaborating cross‑functionally in an agile environment

What We’re Looking For

• 4+ years’ backend engineering experience
• Strong Node.js & TypeScript skills
• Experience with event‑driven architecture
• Solid SQL experience (schema design + optimisation)
• Deep AWS knowledge
• London‑based or commutable (2 days / week onsite)
