Job summary

A leading educational service provider in Sunderland is seeking an Autism Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term role. You will support pupils with autism in a specialist environment, focusing on routines, predictability, and calm communication. Experience with autism is valued, but training will be provided. This role may have an opportunity to become permanent, and safeguarding training will be offered to all staff involved with children.

Autism Teaching Assistant – Specialist Provision

Location: Sunderland
Pay: £90–£110 per day
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term

We’re looking for an Autism Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a structured, specialist learning environment.

This role focuses on routine, predictability and calm communication. You’ll support pupils with autism to engage with learning, manage sensory needs and develop independence.

The role involves:

  • 1:1 autism support
  • Supporting routines and transitions
  • Using clear, consistent communication
  • Supporting emotional and sensory regulation
  • Working closely with teaching and therapy teams

Experience with autism is beneficial, but training and support are available.
