Job description
In This Vital Role, You Will

We are currently seeking an Electrician to join our Property Team, supporting the maintenance and preservation of one of the most iconic buildings in the world, St Paul's Cathedral. Our Property Team is responsible for the care, safety, and long-term sustainability of the St Paul's Cathedral estate, including the Cathedral itself, the School, Chapter House, Amen Court and, when required, the Tillingham Estate. As our Electrician, you will ensure electrical safety and compliance across these historic and operational spaces, enabling worship, visitor activities, education, and daily operational life to continue smoothly and safely.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure electrical systems across the estate comply with current regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain accurate compliance documentation including Part P certification
  • Respond to reactive maintenance needs and undertake preventative electrical maintenance
  • Lead and deliver minor electrical projects, including ordering materials and coordinating trades
  • Support ongoing planning for future electrical system renewal
  • Maintain tools, parts, and equipment, ensuring correct storage and upkeep
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and external contractors, ensuring minimal disruption to Cathedral activities
Qualifications & Skills
  • A City & Guilds 2382-22 - 18th Edition qualification
  • C&G 2391-52 Inspection & Testing qualification
  • Experience in electrical installation, maintenance and project delivery
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with a proactive, can‑do attitude
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Experience using CAFM systems (e.g., Vision Pro) – training will be provided if required
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively across a busy organisation
  • Flexibility to support major services and events, including working at height and occasional overtime
  • Appreciation of the unique needs of a historic and sacred building
