A local educational institution in Woolmer Hill is seeking a dedicated Attendance Officer to enhance student attendance and engagement. You'll work closely with senior staff and the Surrey Inclusion Officer, leading strategies aimed at reducing absence and enhancing student wellbeing. This position is term time only, demanding 34.17 hours per week. The role involves collecting, recording, monitoring and reporting on data regarding attendance and punctuality. You will be supporting the school to improve attendance levels and reduce persistent absence. Working alongside senior school staff and the Surrey Inclusion Officer you will have a key role in leading on strategies to improve attendance. You will also line manage our part-time Attendance Administrator. The role will involve working closely with the Heads of Year who work to support students with their academic progress, their behaviour for learning, and their pastoral support and wellbeing. The role will also involve liaising with other staff, parents and external agencies. You will also hold meetings with parents when you have identified that attendance is a cause for concern. We are looking for someone who will be available for 34.17 hours over 5 days per week, term time only (39 weeks) (8:30am to 4:00pm with a 40-minute unpaid lunch break).
Candidates should ideally have experience of working with young people, have excellent communication skills and a good level of education. The ability to build good relationships with students and their parents is essential. A high level of confidentiality will also apply to this role.
This post holder will join a team of five Heads of Year along with our wider Student Support Team which includes the Welfare Team and Learning Support team.
