Do you have extensive experience in the renewable energy sector with specific knowledge of land and property rights? Are you looking for a real opportunity to make a difference and work for a highly reputable, successful and expanding property consultancy?

The Energy & Renewables team at Bidwells has been at the forefront of the sector for over 20 years, offering professional services to support landowners and developers across the UK.

We have an exciting new opportunity for a confident and approachable Associate or Divisional Partner with strong negotiation and communication skills to help grow the land and property service line,working closely with the existing team and other departments.

The firm also has teams of specialist forestry, planning, natural capital and sustainable investment, grid and infrastructure experts acting for a range of energy and renewables clients across the country.

What you'll be doing

  • Advising landowners, developers and investors on the land rights required for commercial-scale renewable energy projects, across all technologies, while safeguarding their interests throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Negotiating commercial terms on behalf of landowners and investors to agree option and draft lease terms for projects, as well as advising on ancillary property rights such as access, grid, habitat management. Providing clients with detailed recommendations.
  • Promoting land and evaluating offers, and may also involve site acquisition advisory, due diligence, and tender exercises involving detailed analysis and strategic advice, ultimately providing clients with detailed recommendations.
  • Client and project management.
  • Business development, working with senior team members to evolve and implement a UK wide growth plan, identifying target opportunities,contributing to marketing, PR and representing at industry events. Building strategic relationships and promoting cross-selling of Bidwells' services.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, solicitors, accountants, and other professional advisors to deliver top-quality guidance to clients.
  • Visit sites to evaluate potential, establish client relationships, meet developers, and manage projects to completion.
  • Lead, motivate and mentor team members to deliver profitable, high quality work and support their professional development. Conduct performance and development reviews with direct reports.
  • Support Department planning, budgeting and financial management.
  • Stay current with professional development to ensure technical expertise and business acumen.
  • Act as a resource for firm-wide colleagues by providing accurate, informed advice.
About you

  • Extensive experience in negotiating terms on behalf of landowners and/or developers throughout the lifecycle of different types of renewable technology projects.
  • Experience working in a similar consultancy in the energy industry, or a developer or closely related business.
  • Leadership experience and must be a team player. People management experience is a bonus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at various stages and competing deadlines.
  • Lease management experience.
  • Professional, approachable demeanour with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong business development and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills along with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent financial acumen and commercial awareness.
  • Demonstrable track record of client care.
  • Ability to instil a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ideally qualified to degree level. MRICS would be an advantage.
  • Full UK driving licence.
