Job Description

Under general supervision, the Sr. Associate, Mechanical Engineer is responsible for assisting lead mechanical engineers in design/analysis to support mechanical layout of power equipment and other Navy based electronic systems. This person assists in creating equipment layouts that satisfy system requirements and account for tradeoffs among thermal, mass properties, structural, and manufacturing considerations.

Essential Functions
  • Applies the Solidworks 3D CAD system to the creation of mechanical layouts and drawings.
  • Develops detailed fabrication and assembly drawings and performs tolerances analysis.
  • Designs interconnecting brackets and support structure between components and subsystems.
  • Assists the lead mechanical engineer in cost estimates and components selection.
  • Conducts simpler thermal and structural analyses under the guidance of lead mechanical engineers.
  • Provides engineering support to system integration efforts, including production support.
  • Coordinates and executes engineering design changes and performs some checking work.
  • Uses established and well defined engineering procedures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering and 0-2 years of prior related experience and/or training in mechanical engineering.
    • Or, Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.
  • Practical experience with 3-D CAD (Solidworks) and analysis software tools (ANSYS).
  • Good mathematical skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Practical experience using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance.

Compensation and Benefits

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $67,000MIN - $123,500MAX. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including health and insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
