Assistant Team Manager – Children with Disabilities - £40 ph

About the Role

Swindon is seeking a confident and experienced Assistant Team Manager (ATM) to join our Children with Disabilities (CWD) team. This is a pivotal leadership role, supporting frontline staff in delivering high-quality social work to children and young people with disabilities and complex needs.

You will manage a reduced but more complex caseload, provide reflective supervision, and take a proactive role in performance management and service development. This is an excellent opportunity for a practitioner ready to step into leadership while maintaining direct involvement in complex casework.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently manage a complex and multi-faceted caseload, while maintaining a reduced workload appropriate to leadership duties.
  • Use the Family Safeguarding model, applying strengths-based and collaborative approaches to working with children and families.
  • Undertake in-depth assessments focused on risk, harm, parenting capacity, and ability to change.
  • Recognise and respond to all forms of abuse, exploitation (including online), and neglect, ensuring children's safety and wellbeing.
  • Provide reflective supervision, mentoring, and performance oversight to social workers and students.
  • Lead on safeguarding practice within the team, chair multi-agency meetings, and ensure statutory responsibilities are met.
