Job summary

A construction recruitment agency is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for a 20 Unit Residential New Build project in Reading. In this role, you will support the commercial team throughout the project lifecycle, assist with procurement, cost control, and financial reporting. Candidates should have or be working towards a degree in Quantity Surveying, possess strong numerical skills, and excellent communication abilities. Familiarity with MS Office and QS software is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Degree or working towards a qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in a QS or commercial role within construction is advantageous.
  • Strong numerical skills and an analytical mindset.
  • Excellent communication and organisation abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with QS or cost management software is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing cost plans, estimates, and tender packages.
  • Support the procurement process, including issuing enquiries and evaluating subcontractor quotations.
  • Help manage valuations, variations, and cost reporting.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation.
  • Attend site meetings and contribute to progress assessments.
  • Work collaboratively with site teams, design teams, and subcontractors.
  • Support the preparation of monthly commercial reports and forecasts.
