Overview

Assistant Psychologist - Barnet Enhanced Support team, Barnet CAMHS. Fixed-term Band 5 position to join the Barnet Enhanced Support Team. The service is multidisciplinary and aligned with the iThrive Framework, promoting holistic, needs-led care. The team provides a rapid and flexible service for urgent and acute problems facing troubled adolescents, including significant self-harm and serious mental illness. The Trust supports ongoing professional development with supervision and CPD opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Attend clinical meetings and in-service training as required.
  • Keep up to date with new techniques and research to promote good practice.
  • Record all clinical information in line with trust policies.
  • Support service development and quality improvement projects.
  • Plan and prioritise own workload and activities under the direction of the supervising clinical psychologist.
  • Support formal and informal assessment of social communication needs of children and young people presenting with neurodevelopmental difficulties.
  • Hold a small caseload supervised by an 8a Clinical Psychologist.

Requirements
  • Essential
  • Qualifications/Registrations: Upper second-class honours degree (or higher) in psychology; entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
  • Skills/Abilities: Understanding of child development and psychosocial models; ability to develop therapeutic relationships and maintain professional boundaries; ability to manage own workload; IT skills including clinical records systems (e.g., RiO) and data tools (e.g., Excel); ability to reflect on practice and use supervision for development.
  • Experience/Knowledge: Experience in supporting mental health needs of children and young people, including with neurodevelopmental differences; knowledge of routine outcome monitoring and up-to-date evidence-based practice; awareness of national policies related to the client group.
  • Other: Commitment to equality of opportunity and service user participation.
  • Desirable
  • 3DI or ADI-R training; post-qualifying training in relevant areas; specialist training in CAMHS; higher-level training in research design/analysis; experience in teaching/training; strong report writing; knowledge of service evaluation and quality improvement methods.
