Overview

New Opportunity – Assistant Project Manager

Our client is seeking a motivated Assistant Project Manager to join their expanding project team. They deliver complex engineering solutions across Energy, Renewables, Hydrogen, Carbon Capture, and Waste-to-X — sectors at the forefront of the global transition to a greener future.

This is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to join a growing, internationally active business, gaining hands-on exposure to technically challenging projects from concept and design through to delivery and commissioning.

The Assistant Project Manager will support the successful execution of projects, working closely with clients, suppliers, and internal teams across the UK and overseas.

This position is ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career in project management within engineering and who is flexible to travel and occasionally work out of hours to meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the management of engineering projects from order placement through to delivery and commissioning.
  • Assist with project schedules, budgets, and resource planning, identifying risks and supporting mitigation actions
  • Liaise with clients on commercial, engineering, quality, and production-related matters
  • Attend customer meetings, both remotely and on-site.
  • Expedite manufacturing activities and track progress against key milestones
  • Prepare project documentation, reports, and support contractual variations
  • Contribute to business planning and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide aftersales and site support when required
Qualifications

Essential:

  • Engineering, Manufacturing, or related qualifications

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Diploma (or equivalent) in Business, Engineering, or Manufacturing
  • Degree-level qualification desirable (2:1 or above preferred)
Desirable Experience
  • Background in fabricated systems or large manufactured products preferred
  • Experience managing large fabricated or manufactured systems.
  • Experience or strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, or coordination
  • Commercial awareness with an interest in supplier and budget management
  • Exposure to Gas Turbines, Renewables, Hydrogen, Carbon Capture, or Waste-to-X is advantageous
Skills & Attributes
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical specifications
Requirements for this role
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Right to work in the UK and fluent in English
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas
  • Flexibility to work out of hours occasionally to support customer needs
