Job summary

A healthcare trust in northern England is seeking an Assistant Photographer to support the Medical Illustration Department. The role involves assisting in providing an Ophthalmic Imaging service, including obtaining OCT and colour fundus images. Candidates should have 5 GCSEs or equivalent, NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care, and knowledge in medical photography. The position offers a salary between £24,937 to £26,598 per annum, pro rata. This is a part-time role totaling 22.5 hours.

Qualifications

Assistant Photographer

Assistant Photographer 22.5 hours available Band 3 - CIC

The Post holder will work as an assistant within Medical Illustration to assist primarily in providing an Ophthalmic Imaging service by obtaining OCT image and simple colour fundus images.

The Department of Medical Photography provides a comprehensive clinical and non clinical service to NCIC. The Department chiefly supports the Ophthalmology, Dermatology, ENT, Urology and Oncology directorates clinically. Some Non-clinical work is requested by a wide variety of Medical and Professional staff to support the presentation of their Academic work.

Main duties of the job
  • Work as an Assistant under the direct and indirect supervision of an Medical Photographer.
  • Obtain diagnostic Optical Coherence Tomography Scans of patients.
  • Use FORUM software to input, edit and archive patient information.
  • Obtain colour fundus photographs of posterior pole and optic disc using fundus photography.
  • Use FORUM software to input and edit patient information and check image quality.
  • Liaise and assist Medical Photographers in prioritising their workload.
  • Answer telephone and triage phone calls in the absence of the Medical Photographer.
  • Assist Medical Photographers on location throughout the hospital to take clinical photographs of patients in some distressing situations e.g. non accidental injuries.
  • Upload and input clinical photographs onto INFO FLEX software making sure that patient details are correct.
