Job summary

A leading finance organization in Doncaster is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join their central Finance Team. The successful candidate will prepare accounting information, assist in drafting management accounts, and produce financial reports. AAT qualification or progression towards it is preferred along with some finance experience. Qualifications

  • AAT qualified or studying towards AAT.
  • Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant role is required.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post accounting information into the nominal ledger.
  • Draft basic management accounts from the trial balance.
  • Produce reports from the financial records.
  • Ensure timely accounting information is received from services.
  • Prepare and post payroll journals and adjustments.
  • Prepare schedules of accruals and prepayments.
  • Process nominal ledger transactions as required.
  • Assist with the production of monthly management reports.
  • Participate in monthly financial performance reviews.
  • Update fixed asset registers monthly.
  • Reconcile the bank account with statements monthly.
  • Reconcile Control Accounts monthly.

Job description

Hesley Group are looking to appoint an Assistant Management Accountant to join the central Finance Team in Doncaster.

The Assistant Accountant is responsible for preparing and posting accounting information into the nominal ledger drafting basic management accounts from the trial balance and producing reports from the financial records.

Key result areas of the role are :
  • To ensure that monthly accounting information is received on time from the services.
  • To prepare and post payroll journals from payroll reports and any additional / ad-hoc payroll adjustment entries.
  • To prepare and post schedules of accruals and prepayments / deferrals of income and expenditure.
  • To process nominal ledger transactions as required and assist in the production of monthly and annual accounts.
  • To assist with the preparation of monthly management reports including income and expenditure reports for the services.
  • To participate in monthly reviews of financial performance with the managers of the services.
  • To update fixed asset registers to reflect all additions and disposals on a monthly basis.
  • To reconcile the bank account to the bank statements on a monthly basis.
  • To reconcile Control Accounts on a monthly basis
About You

The role would suit an AAT qualified / studier or someone with previous experience in an Assistant Accountant role.

Some previous experience in Finance is required and an understanding of basic accounting principles will be extremely advantageous. Full training will be provided however the role will offer the right candidate the opportunity to grow and develop in the role with the chance to gain experience and exposure in a wide range of areas of accounting.
