An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Health, Safety and Quality (HSQ) Advisor to support the HSQES team in providing an efficient and effective service to the business and assist in providing timely health, safety and quality advice and support to the Group.

The ideal candidate will either be qualified to NEBOSH Certificate level or NVQ L5 in Occupational Health and Safety or working towards it. The Company will consider entry level applicants wanting to pursue a formal qualification as this position will offer further training, development, and support so must be looking to grow a career in health and safety.

The main duties and responsibilities of the Assistant HSQ Advisor
  • Develop knowledge to provide advice to site staff in connection with health and safety related issues
  • Learn how to successfully conduct site HSQES audits as per programme, report and follow-up on any actions
  • Manage the HSQ induction process for new starters
  • Liaise with the Facilities Co-ordinator to ensure that H&S compliance is maintained at Head Office
  • Compile reports relating to HSQ performance and where required present findings
  • Assist the HSQES Director in maintaining the current HSQES Management System to ensure compliance with requirements
  • Maintain on-line records
  • Carry out internal audits
  • Support the HSQES Director & Team in generating material in connection with HSQES campaigns (e.g. Newsletters, bulletins etc.)
  • Coordinate and collate records to support HSQ KPI submissions (e.g. data on audits, accidents etc.)
  • Assist with maintaining Awards & Accreditations (such as Achilles, Constructionline, CHAS, ROSPA etc)
  • Collate records for awards & accreditations
  • Ensure renewals are actioned as required for awards & accreditations
  • Assist the team in preparation of responses to enquiries, pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs), etc.
  • Review and audit the on-line project site files (on Fieldview) and report accordingly
  • Undertake other administration duties which occur and as directed
  • Help maintain records of training and competency

To become a competent DSE assessor for the Company

To assist the HSQES Director in the development and delivery of suitable in-house HSQES training to staff.

To develop into a super user of Fieldview HSQES File and aid in developing its use.

Be confident in representing and promote HSQES in meetings, workshops, management reviews and forums both internally and externally.

To complete Accident Investigation training to support the company in any accident investigations

To complete COSHH training, to act as the focal point for COSHH assessments and ensure they are maintained on the company's document control system.

Knowledge and Skills Required
  • Microsoft Office - Excel (ideally intermediate level), Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent and demonstrable verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in data entry and maintaining databases / CRM systems.
  • Confident in producing reports via various methods, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
  • Basic HSQ understanding desirable but full training will be given.
Beneficial Skills
  • Hold a technical qualification (NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ L5 in Occupational Health and Safety) or working towards it. (Study support can be offered for entry level applicants).
  • Hold a UK driving licence or in the process of learning to drive.

The role is offered full time (08.30 - 17.30) based from our head office in High Wycombe, with occasional travel to projects in London and the South East.
