Job description
Assistant General Manager - New Opening - MANA
Assistant General Manager - MA/NA (Opening January 2026)

Location: 30 Upper Grosvenor Street, Mayfair
Opening: January 2026

About MA/NA

Opening in January 2026 on Upper Grosvenor Street, MA/NA is born from the Japanese philosophy that every ingredient carries an invisible power - a life‑force shaped by nature and the hands that honour it.

'Mana' is the spiritual energy that exists beneath the surface of all things. It is felt rather than seen - transforming emotion into experience, and a meal into memory.

Guided by this belief, MA/NA offers a seamless blend of restaurant and bar - refined Japanese dishes alongside an exceptional cocktail, wine and sake list. Here, cocktails flow effortlessly into dinner, and dinner naturally returns to drinks.

Every detail - from light and sound to service and design - is intentional. Each element works in harmony to reveal the extraordinary within the simple.

The Role - Assistant General Manager

As Assistant General Manager at MA/NA, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day leadership of the restaurant and bar, supporting the General Manager in delivering exceptional service and operational excellence.

You will help guide and inspire the front‑of‑house team, ensuring every moment of the guest experience feels intentional, elegant and seamless. You will balance the artistry of service with a clear understanding of business performance, guest satisfaction, and team wellbeing.

This is a rare opportunity to be part of a flagship opening - a restaurant where emotion, energy, and execution are in perfect alignment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the General Manager in leading all aspects of restaurant and bar operations
  • Maintain the highest standards of service, guest care, and attention to detail
  • Foster a culture of calm confidence, collaboration, and precision among the team
  • Drive training, development and performance standards across all front‑of‑house roles
  • Manage daily service briefings, guest flow and table pacing in alignment with the restaurant's rhythm
  • Collaborate closely with the kitchen, bar and reservations teams to ensure consistency and flow
  • Support the General Manager with financial reporting, budgeting, and business analysis
What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience as an Assistant General Manager or Senior Manager in a luxury or fine dining environment
  • A leadership style that is calm, inspiring, and rooted in hospitality
  • Strong understanding of both restaurant and bar operations
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem‑solving skills
  • A deep appreciation for Japanese cuisine, craft cocktails, and the artistry of service
  • A desire to grow within an expanding and creative hospitality group
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary and service charge
  • Opportunity to be part of one of London's most anticipated openings within the Thesleff Group
  • Career progression within a forward‑thinking hospitality portfolio
  • Structured training, mentorship and development
  • Staff meals, well‑being initiatives and team events
  • A supportive environment that values detail, artistry and human connection
