Job description

We are seeking dynamic and enthusiastic candidates to join our new Babies, Children's, & Young People's Division in the position of Assistant General Manager, with 2x positions offered on a permanent basis working 37.5 hours per week, with working patterns to be agreed upon appointment.

Each post will manage the daily Operations Management of a Health Unit, with the roles being based at:

  • Barnet & Chase Farm Health Unit
  • Royal Free Health Unit

Whilst this will be the main base for each postholder, you may be required to provide support to other Health Units on occasion as needed for business continuity. If you only wish to be considered for 1x location, please specify this in your supporting information.

Main duties of the job

The Assistant General Manager will support the General Manager in the operational management of the BCYP Division. The postholder will work as part of a service triumvirate to include the clinical lead/s and matron/s for their base site. The service triumvirate will work together to deliver the service objectives, providing leadership and ensuring high quality patient care.

This role will be primarily based at one site but, , where the postholder is managing a portfolio offering services across more than one site, the postholder will be expected to travel where required and have clear visibility across all health unit sites within their remit.

The role is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the clinical and non-clinical services (elective and non-elective) within their remit. This includes the delivery of national waiting times performance (RTT, diagnostics, & cancer) through effective service planning, waiting list management, & developing systems and processes to ensure the achievement of key national and local objectives.

The postholder will also be responsible for service review, redesign, and quality improvements. They will also be responsible for the development of business cases as directed by the general manager.They will provide effective line management and leadership to all staff for whom they have responsibility.
