A conservation organization in Greater London is seeking an Assistant Gardener to help maintain a historical garden. The role involves hedge cutting, lawn mowing, and interacting with visitors. Candidates should be adaptable, organized, and have a valid driving license. Assistant Gardener - Richmond-upon-Thames
As Assistant Gardener, you’ll be working with a team to deliver the day-to-day care of our 17th-century inspired garden and maintain high presentation standards. This role will include a range of practical tasks to develop, improve and look after the garden and contribute to the delivery of projects.
This is a part-time position. 22.5hrs a week between Monday - Friday. Our working hours are 7.30am-4pm Monday - Thursday and 7.30-1pm on Fridays so your hours will fit within these and will ideally start in the morning as we do most of the noisy work before the property opens at 10am.
The salary is £16,906.50 per annum, inclusive of London Weighting (Full-time equivalent would be £28,177.50, inclusive of London Weighting).

In this role, you’ll report to the Head Gardener and work alongside two gardeners.
Daily responsibilities will include assisting with hedge cutting and lawn mowing, maintaining mixed borders, and gravel paths. You’ll work alongside gardeners and a team of volunteers. You’ll talk to visitors, answering a variety of garden-related questions. We’re looking for someone with a practical approach to work, and an interest in plants. The role can be physically challenging, and we use a wide range of machinery and equipment to help us get our work done. The use of machinery hedge and grass trimmers, pedestrian and ride-on mowers is essential, but training will be provided. You need a full driving licence and to be prepared to work in all weathers.
