Job description
Overview

In line with our redeployment policy, we’ll prioritise applications from employees who are under formal notice of redundancy. As Assistant Gardener, you’ll be working with a passionate and enthusiastic team to deliver the day‑to‑day care of the historic 1800s Fox family garden which is set within a valley providing a unique climate. You will help maintain high presentation standards. This role will include a range of practical tasks to develop, improve and look after the garden and contribute to project delivery. You will report to the Assistant Head Gardener.

Responsibilities

Daily responsibilities may include assisting with the planting and maintaining of shrubs and borders, mulching, hedge cutting, strimming and lawn mowing. You will work alongside gardeners, a team of volunteers and engaging with the public during your work time. The role can be physically challenging with rough terrain, steep sections, working in all weather and using a wide range of machinery and equipment primarily electrical. Use of machinery such as a small tractor with trailer, hedge trimmers, strimmers and pedestrian mowers is essential; training will be provided.
