As Assistant Gardener, you’ll be working with a passionate and enthusiastic team to deliver the day‑to‑day care of the historic 1800's Fox family garden which is set within a valley providing a unique climate. You will help maintain high presentation standards. This role will include a range of practical tasks to develop, improve and look after the garden and contribute to the delivery of projects.

Salary: £24,862.50 per annum / £12.75 per hour

Contract: Fixed Term Contract until 29-May-2026

Hours / working pattern: Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week

What it's like to work here

In this role, you’ll report to the Assistant Head Gardener. The Gardens team includes a Head Gardener, Assistant Head Gardener, Senior Garden and two gardeners.

What you'll be doing
  • Assisting with the planting and maintaining of shrub and borders.
  • Mulching, hedge cutting, strimming and lawn mowing.
  • Working alongside gardeners and a team of volunteers.
  • Engaging with the public during worktime.
  • Handling a unique collection of plants and contributing to Glendurgan's appeal.
  • Using machinery such as a small tractor with trailer, hedge trimmers, strimmers and pedestrian mowers (training provided). Managing physically challenging terrain in all weather.
