Assistant Finance Manager

Location: Accrington, Lancashire

About the company: An established design-related company

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 (dependent on experience) plus excellent benefits and progression.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9‑5 or 9:30‑5:30 (37.5 hours per week), 5 days in the office with flexibility.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, detail-oriented individual to support the Finance Manager and contribute to the smooth running of the financial operations. You'll be part of a small, friendly team working in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and efficiency are key.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage online banking and BACS payments to UK suppliers and for expenses
  • Perform bank reconciliations in Dollar and Euro
  • Process foreign payments via Telebanking and maintain the system
  • Handle petty cash and banking receipts
  • Complete reports for the Office of National Statistics
  • Challenge parking tickets and take telephone payments
  • Process private mileage and expenses
  • Respond to customer enquiries professionally
  • Prepare payroll journals, manage fixed assets and prepayments
  • Assist with VAT returns, month‑end processes, and other ad hoc duties
Skills & Experience
  • Part‑qualified CIMA (or equivalent) e.g. AAT level 3 or 4 or working towards qualification
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar finance role, preferably in a medium or large sized company.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Sage 200 or similar systems preferred
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem‑solving
