Assistant Roofing Estimator

Manchester (Hybrid)

About the Role

We are working in partnership with an established roofing contractor based in Manchester. The business delivers roofing works across schools, healthcare facilities, industrial sites, rail environments and wider commercial sectors. They are looking for an Assistant Estimator to join their commercial team and learn the trade from an experienced Estimator.

This is an ideal step for someone with around 18 months to 3 years of estimating or commercial support experience who is keen to develop and gain hands‑on experience.

What You’ll Do

• Support the review of drawings, specifications and tender documents
• Assist with roof surveys and site assessments
• Help prepare cost plans and take‑offs for a range of roofing systems
• Obtain supplier and subcontractor quotations and compare rates
• Contribute to tender submissions and cost breakdowns
• Maintain pricing data, supplier information and historic costs
• Work closely with a senior estimator to learn best practice and build technical knowledge

What You’ll Bring

• Minimum 18 months’ experience in an estimating or commercial support role
• Ability to read drawings or willingness to learn quickly
• Strong numeracy, organisation and attention to detail
• Good communication skills and a proactive attitude
• Basic Excel skills and ability to pick up estimating software
• Enthusiasm to learn from experienced estimators and develop a career in roofing
