Location- Warrington, Epsom, Glasgow, Oxford, Peterborough, Bristol, Swansea, Birmingham.

Are you into flood risk management and looking for your next exciting opportunity? We are seeking senior flood modellers to join our thriving business and work on significant projects across the UK. If this describes you, we want to hear from you and discuss how we can help develop your career!

We have recently been named as a Delivery Partner for the Environment Agency’s latest framework, aimed at understanding climate change impacts and flood risks for communities in England. Under the 2024 Mapping and Modelling Framework, AtkinsRéalis will provide survey, mapping, modelling, incident management, hydrological, and other professional services to assist in climate event planning. This program is vital for helping the Environment Agency make informed investment decisions based on data and evidence, reducing flood risks and supporting communities affected by flooding.

As a result of this and other projects, we have vacancies across the UK for enthusiastic and ambitious individuals in primarily technical roles.

Role: Contribute to and lead hydraulic and hydrological modelling projects.

Expertise: Proficiency in 1D and 2D modelling for rivers, surface water, and coastal areas.

Location: Vacancies across the UK.

AtkinsRéalis is a major engineering, environmental, and design consultancy offering opportunities to talented professionals to work on diverse projects at various scales. Our ongoing flood risk management projects include frameworks for the Environment Agency and local authorities across the UK, as well as major projects like HS2 and Sizewell C. We also work in natural flood management, flood forecasting, flood alleviation, and water resources management, with international projects globally. Our teams operate collaboratively across India and other locations, providing an international working environment.

Requirements:

We are seeking Associate Consultants, Engineers, and Modelers with experience in flood risk projects, hydraulic modelling, and leadership capabilities. You should be able to build strong client relationships and work collaboratively to achieve project goals.

  • Extensive experience in flood risk analysis for strategy, planning, development, or design, with proven project delivery.
  • Proficiency in 1D-2D modelling tools like Infoworks ICM, Flood Modeller, TUFLOW/ESTRY, or HEC-RAS, and GIS tools such as ArcGIS, MapInfo, or QGIS. Hydrological assessment experience with FEH and UK hydrology is desirable.
  • Some leadership experience in developing and guiding technical teams.
  • Ability to make robust decisions based on available information.

Chartered status is highly valued, and support for obtaining professional memberships will be provided. Civil engineering design experience is a plus but not essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed technical work including hydraulic modelling, data analysis, GIS, and reporting, ensuring quality assurance.
  • Manage and supervise junior team members, support project managers, and actively progress multiple projects.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and provide high-quality client service.
  • Support business development activities, including tendering and stakeholder engagement.
  • Contribute to the development of the Flood Risk Team through active participation in technical networks.

The individual should:

  • Be motivated, self-driven, and committed to technical excellence.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration.
  • Be adaptable and open to new challenges.
  • Be well-organized, capable of managing multiple projects, and recognize opportunities for team development.
  • Maintain high standards with attention to detail.

Training:

AtkinsRéalis offers comprehensive training and development, supporting professional growth towards Chartered status and beyond. We encourage participation in global technical networks, including the Flood Risk Management network, to foster ongoing learning and idea exchange.

Meeting Your Needs:

Our 'Total Reward' package is flexible to suit your lifestyle and career stage, including benefits like flexible holidays, health & wellbeing benefits, and career planning. We support flexible working arrangements and a healthy work-life balance. Our CSR initiatives also provide opportunities to give back to the community through various networks and programs.
