Job description

Assistant Commercial Property & Asset Manager

📍 Stevenage

💷 c£40k

🕘 Monday - Friday, 9 - 5 (flexible)

You will be involved in redevelopment projects from an early stage, while also gaining hands‑on experience in rent reviews, lease renewals and service charge work.

You will be working with a supportive commercial property team based on site at one of their retail units. Everyone mucks in, no one hides behind job titles, and there’s real exposure to how assets are managed day to day.

You will support the Head of Asset Management and working closely with senior surveyors, gaining experience across a broad mix of work while progressing towards chartership.

What the role actually looks like

You will be involved in the day‑to‑day management of a shopping centre and wider commercial assets, supporting with things like rent reviews, lease renewals and service charge work. You’ll help liaise with contractors, get exposure to redevelopment projects (including upper‑floor redevelopment), and see how decisions are made from both a management and asset perspective.

This isn’t a back‑office role. You’ll be on site, part of the conversations, and involved in real projects that make a visible difference.

There’s also strong exposure to larger commercial management structures and assets, giving you a great grounding as you work towards MRICS.

Who this would suit

This would suit an Assistant Property Manager, Junior Surveyor from a commercial, residential or block property management background or someone early in their commercial career who is :

  • On the path to MRICS (or planning to be)
  • Keen to learn asset management as well as property management
  • Comfortable being hands‑on and asking questions
  • Interested in variety rather than a narrow role
  • Happy working as part of a small, collaborative team

You don’t need to know everything already. The right attitude, curiosity and willingness to get involved matter more.

What’s on offer
  • Salary around £40k
  • 25 days holiday
  • Monday to Friday, 9–5 (with some flexibility)
  • On‑site working at a shopping centre
  • Broad exposure to commercial property and asset management
  • Genuine development support towards becoming a Chartered Surveyor

If you’re looking for a role where you can learn from experienced people, gain real responsibility, and build a solid foundation in commercial property and asset management, this could be a really good move.
