Assistant Accountant – Oswestry (on-site) – £35,000 to £42,000

Seymour John is proud to be partnering with an Oswestry based client who seek to recruit an Assistant Accountant to support the finance team with day-to-day accounting tasks. In this role you will ensure accurate financial records and compliance with company policies and statutory requirements. The role is ideal for someone detail-oriented, organised, and eager to develop their career in finance. Please be aware this is a full time office based role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Preparation of Balance Sheet Reconciliations.
  • Preparation of Profit & Loss Reconciliations.
  • Perform margin analysis on a Product Line basis.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve financial queries.
  • Perform other ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the Finance Manager.
Requirements
  • You may well be degree educated or working towards professional qualifications such as ACCA or CIMA.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel and accounting software (e.g., IFS, SAP).
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience in Manufacturing or Construction Industry.
  • Familiarity with financial regulations and tax compliance in UK and Europe.
