Responsibilities
  • A really rewarding position has become available for an Emotional and Mental Health support assistant to work in a school in Reading.
  • This is an excellent position to gain valuable experience whilst also making a huge difference to the lives of vulnerable children.
  • These students struggle with trauma, anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD and various other mood disorders. They need a positive and safe environment to learn and grow.
  • As an emotional and mental health support assistant you will directly help children manage and cope with their emotions and mental health.
  • You will support and shadow the class teacher, provide 1:1 support for SEN students, help run exciting lessons and may need to handle behavioural management.
  • The role suits someone who is resilient and confident in supporting young people with challenging mental health needs. It is a great opportunity for aspiring psychologists, social workers, therapists and counsellors.
  • Experience working with vulnerable children is desirable but not essential. A background in sports, art or drama, or a relevant graduate degree, is an advantage.
